Abby Jones

Choreographer/Dancer

Abby Jones is currently a sophomore at IU. Abby has a double major in Contemporary Dance and Psychology. Her hometown is Greenwood, Indiana. Abby has taught and choreographed for her home studio over the last few years. This is Abby’s first time participating in choreography for SLIP with her duet partner although Abby participated in SLIP her freshman year as a dancer. Abby has hopes to pursue a master’s in dance therapy after her undergrad and would love to continue dancing, teaching, and choreographing.

Abigail Gerdes

Abigail Gerdes is currently a sophomore here at IU and is studying Contemporary Dance and Recreational Therapy. She was born and raised in Lake Mills, Wisconsin where she began her love and passion for dance. She has been trained in a variety of styles of dance through her home studio in Waunakee, Wisconsin. At IU, she had her first appearance in SLIP, where she performed in multiple pieces. Gerdes enjoys choreographing and teaching in her freetime and always looks forward to working with her students. She hopes to dance with a company post graduation as well as working as a Recreational Therapist who focuses on dance as a therapeutic practice.

Carly Liegel

"Still Just Watching?"

Carly Liegel is a senior from Madison, WI pursuing a BFA in Dance and minor in Exercise Science. She is excited to be working with University Players again, having choreographed and assistant directed Metamorphoses this season, co-choreographed American Idiot last season, and choreographed/performed in SLIP the past three years. For IU’s Mainstage, she’s had the opportunity to choreograph Tiger Beat and appear in works choreographed by Twyla Tharp, Juel D. Lane, Beatrice Capote, Erik Abbott-Main, Elizabeth Shea, and Selene Carter. She has been involved with many independent projects, most recently Kyle Mason’s Into the Woods (co-choreographer) and Ephemorous (stage manager). Carly is a board member of University Players, Theatre and Dance SAB, MoCo, and she co-teaches for the Bloomington branch of Dance for Parkinson’s Disease. Post graduation, Carly plans to pursue her passion for dance by continuing to perform, teach, and create for both the dance and theatre worlds.

Channing Dayton

Channing Dayton is currently a Freshman at Indiana University pursuing a Dual Degree in Contemporary Dance and Apparel Merchandising with a minor in Fashion Design. This is her first time choreographing both a group piece, as well as for SLIP. She has experience choreographing solos, duets, and trios. Channing is from Charlotte, North Carolina, where she trained with many amazing dancers, teachers, and choreographers. She also danced in an adaptive dance program for teens with disabilities. After graduating from IU, Channing hopes to dance professionally in a contemporary dance company and set work on various dancers and companies.

Chelsea Kummeth

Chelsea Kummeth is currently a senior pursuing a BFA in Contemporary Dance and studying pre-Occupational Therapy with a minor in ASL. She was born in China, but raised in Mishawaka, Indiana where she danced for 15 years. She performed for this show in 2018 and this is her third year choreographing for SLIP. She enjoys creating pieces with younger dancers to grow in community and to guide them on their journey. Along with teaching dance, she is a certified yoga instructor and wishes to incorporate that profession in her future endeavors. Kummeth is excited to become a professional dancer before attending graduate school where she will become a Pediatric Occupational Therapist.

Grace Calderoni

Grace Calderoni is a sophomore majoring in contemporary dance. For IU Dance she has appeared in the Junior Choreographic Showcase (2019) Sounding Bodies (2020). This is Grace's first year as a SLIP choreographer, however, she appeared in the 2020 show as a dancer. Originally from Colorado, she has learned from Denver’s talented and diverse teachers and mentors, as well as choreographers based in New York, California, and Arizona. Post graduation, Grace hopes to dance with a contemporary/modern repertoire company as well as continuing to teach and choreograph.

Kaitlyn Katzung

Kaitlyn Katzung is from Northbrook, Illinois, about an hour north of Chicago. She's a freshman currently majoring in theatre and minoring in dance. Kaitlyn has been a dancer for most of her life, exploring a variety of styles including ballet, modern, contemporary, and jazz. She's always loved improvisation and coming up with choreography, but has rarely gotten an opportunity to do so until now. Participating in SLIP will be her first time creating a piece for the public eye (as opposed to the handful of dances created for and seen by close friends and family). She's grateful to have been given a chance to work with these amazing dancers and honored to have her work shown amongst other incredibly talented choreographers.

Sara De Furia

Sara De Furia is currently a sophomore at IU studying Contemporary Dance with minors in Kinesiology and Spanish. De Furia was born in Staten Island, NY and grew up in New Jersey. She has been training in dance for 10 years and began choreographing 5 years ago. This is her second year performing in a SLIP performance and her first year as a choreographer. After graduation, Sara wants to travel and tour with a professional company. She also sees herself working as a choreographer, teacher, and yoga instructor throughout her career.

Zoey Dickenson

Zoey Dickenson is a current sophomore at IU, majoring in Contemporary Dance and minoring in Media and Creative Advertising. Before her education at Indiana started, Zoey trained in a wide variety of dance styles in her hometown of Bourbonnais, IL, where she also taught and choreographed from time to time. This is Zoey's second year choreographing and performing for SLIP. Post graduation, Zoey hopes to dance with a repertoire company and continue teaching and choreographing.

Austin Rettig is currently a Junior studying Informatics and is from Fishers, IN. He loves working on programming projects while also shooting short films and music videos. Post graduation, he hopes to work in either web development or technology consulting

Corinne Jones

Videographer/Editor

A mover, a dancer, director, and an improviser, Corinne Jones will soon complete her senior year as an undergraduate of the Indiana University Contemporary Dance program. Raised in Franklin, Indiana, she has trained in dance for 16 years. Corinne is a versatile dancer with backgrounds in various styles. She has performed in numerous works, including the role of ‘Sara’ in Twayla Tharp’s “Deuce Coupe.” Corinne combines dance with her love of filmmaking and has directed, edited, and produced numerous short films. Post graduation, Corinne will use her affinity towards improvisational work to fuel a career in experimental performance, including multimedia creation, visual art, and real time performance.

Izel Landa

Stage Manager

Izel Landa is a Junior studying Theatre Arts, she hopes to run a burlesque club one day. She has been doing projects with UP since her freshman year and has loved every opportunity that has been presented even in the pandemic. She would like to thank everyone involved!

K Hartman

Videographer/Editor

K Hartman is a sophomore studying geography with a concentration in information systems and remote sensing. They are from Fishers, Indiana and enjoy photography and videography in their spare time, as well making things out of clay.

Katelyn Connor

Assistant Director

Katelyn Connor is a Junior pursuing a BA in Media, a BFA in Contemporary Dance, and a minor in Arts Management. She has performed in SLIP in the past and is excited to be working with University Players again, this time as Assistant Director of SLIP.
